Fall Has Arrived, Here are Some Good Ideas…
Let’s get started and prepare your home for the upcoming winter. Here are a few helpful tips.
- Turn off any outdoor faucets and ensure exterior pipes are drained of water. Frozen pipes are not fun and they can burst and cause serious damage.
- Have your furnace inspected sooner rather than later. Replace any filters or have them cleaned. This will ensure an efficient furnace this winter.
- Look for any potential heat loss points in your home. Seal up any window or door frames. Inspect any other gaps on the exterior of your house and make sure they are sealed up to keep the welcome elements in and the unwanted out.
- One last trip around the house doing touch up painting perhaps on the shed, or trim.
- Have your chimney looked at, and if necessary have it swept. This will prevent any potential chimney fires caused by a build-up of creosote.
- Clear your eaves troughs and gutters of debris. Check that they are structurally sound and flowing without obstruction. Make sure downspouts are directed away from your house.
- Inspect your shingles, the winter can cause serious stress to your roof, which in turn can potentially cause expensive internal damage. I have the name of roofers if you need one.
